EMOTIONAL BITCH

Jeez, did I take the right decision?

Was breaking up with her the right thing to do? Should I break up with him? Should I quit my job? Should I follow my dream? Should I go travelling alone? Should I get married? Should I get a divorce? Should I give up on searching for a partner? Yes, no, maybe?

How do you know you are taking the right decision? And more so, how do you know you are making the right choice when there are a lot of emotions involved, like pain, fear, guilt or excitement?

The first thing you need to do is breath, take a minute, catch a deep breath and consider; Are you upset, down or anxious? Ponder if you are making that decision while being dragged by your emotions. Are you taking that decision with your heart or your brain. The opposite of what you may think, our emotions are generated by our thoughts, and in a split of a second they become an emotion, and those emotions can rule the whole outcome.

I'm the sort of person that will follow her heart -not emotions- 99% of the time, but there's a fine print; If I dare to follow my heart and l I'm not in balance with my mind, therefore my emotions, I will take an impulsive, and most likely wrong decision.

To avoid missteps, before I take an important decision I ask myself these questions, and analyse how do they make me feel.

1. Does the decision increase the possibilities of a better future for me?

2. Does the decision open new doors for me?

3. Does the decision I'm about to take, help me grow?

If the answer is yes, no matter how terrifying I found it I go with it. In contrast, if the decision I'm about to make, silence me or inhibits me, no matter how easy the decision may appear, is a no.

If you want a conscious and fructiferous decision, I insist, you have to be entirely honest with yourself. Remember, your heart has information your brain doesn't; your deepest and purest desires lie in your heart. Connect with yourself when thinking about what to do, does the decision expand you or shrinks you? Does it help you raise your voice or make you feel silenced?

And finally, know for sure, whatever decision you make, you have the chance to make it the right one, even if it only helped to learn a lesson or to be aware of a situation.
