EMOTIONAL BITCH

View Original

I'm constantly ashamed of my behavior

Have you ever said something and the minute you hear yourself saying it, the minute you regret it? Or behave in a certain way that you later do not understand how you were capable of doing that, as if some evil energy possessed you? The reason is, most likely because you are a prisoner of the way you feel.

Basically, you are allowing your emotional thoughts to take over your rational ones.

What on earth is an emotional thought?

We all have around 50,000 thousand thoughts a day! Some of those thoughts may be rational, and some of them irrational. The irrational thoughts create emotions that at the same time, force-feed the emotional thought.

So, what happens if your emotions are all over the place?

That means your mind is all over the place, and you are listening to your emotional thoughts more than your rational ones.

Still a bit confused? Don't worry, it gets easier as you become more and more conscious of the way you think. Is not like back in school; they thought us how to identify rational versus emotional thoughts.

Emotional thought

"The guy I'm dating hasn't replied to my text in the past five hours. Really? Doesn't he have one minute to reply? If he truly cared about me, he would reply."

vs

Rational Thought

"I'll focus on my day, and if he doesn't reply, I'll give him time. Then, I'll ask him if everything is ok?"

Emotional Thought

"I want those shoes everyone is wearing on Instagram."

vs

Rational Thought

"I just quit my job. Do I really need a 500 dollar pair of shoes?"

Sometimes life is sturdy, and we justify our behavior based on the amount of emotional pain we have. The more we regret it, the more we justify it, at times it's just too painful to admit our mistakes.

Now you know you can be conscious of your actions. Let's say you are about to take action on something that evidently moves you, well before doing it, take a minute and understand if the action is fueled by an emotional thought or by a rational one. If it's an emotional one, try to find the rational version. If still you feel driven by your emotions, then take time, don't act on it straight away.

I guarantee if you work on your emotional consciousness you will not regret your behavior ever again. I highly recommend it, I promise you, it changed my life.
